In the heart of Umbria, located in Foligno, in the heart of Umbria, Casa Mancia is a small hotel fashioned out of a refurbished renaissance residence.
The original structure of the building dates back to the 15th century. Throughout the centuries the residence has been enlarged and a tower and a small church have been added.
In the past it was the lodging of the Authorities of Foligno and since then it has housed many important clerical figures. In the 19th century it became the private residence of the Mancia family. In 2003 it was converted into a picturesque hotel where, thanks to the meticulous reconstruction work that took place, its historical elements are now artfully combined with a more modern design.
Standing in the midst of a beautiful park with palm trees and jasmine vines and only 800 metres from the historical town centre of Foligno, Casa Mancia welcomes its guests by offering comfort, leisure and the typical Umbrian warmth.
Placed in the backyard of the Hotel, the swimming pool is a comfortable and private space, perfect to get some rest in complete leisure. The garden, that was once the paddock of Mancia family’s horses, today is one of the most pleasant external spaces of the House. (Swimming pool characteristics: length mt 16, width mt 5, depth max 1.40, at guests’ disposal from 9.00 a.m. until 9.00 p.m.; possibility of cocktail and aperitifs).
There are some charming aspects that distinguishes Casa Mancia from an ordinary hotel, making it unique: the steep stairs of the 15th century leading up to the ancient tower, the splendid wooden ceiling of the sitting room similar to the one of an ancient drying room; stone slabs engraved with religious symbols and Umbrian earthenware that envelops Casa Mancia in the peculiar atmosphere and colours of Umbria.
